“The tradition of the salon in Europe became popularized in the 17th and 18th centuries. These salon gatherings fostered conversation, learning, and engagement in the warm, intimate setting of a home or café. They were often hosted by a woman who invited like-minded people — both men and women — and curated an evening where ideas and thoughts could be shared in a welcoming and stimulating environment.

Why now? More than ever, our society is in need of meaningful conversations and genuine exchange. We have entered an age of loneliness despite our magical phones that can place us anywhere in the world, yet often leave us devoid of authentic human interaction. Human beings have always been in search of meaning and in need of connection.

Why do this? These intimate gatherings are centred around a story or subject that sparks curiosity and a genuine desire to express oneself — and to be heard. These meetings are held in the hostess’s home or in a café. Over a warm cup of coffee or a glass of wine, minds expand and every voice is heard.”

Introducing Tina’s Salon

Intimate, thoughtfully curated sessions that bring together stories, text, and art. Gatherings designed to spark conversation, explore ideas, deepen connection, and create a shared sense of meaning.

Guided by Tina Grimberg, with warmth, curiosity, and care.

After years of teaching courses and workshops exploring text, art, and wise aging, Rabbi Tina began imagining something different.

She imagined a gathering filled with connection, reflection, and humour.

As she reflected on her own transition to Rabbi Emerita at Darchei Noam, she wrote a new story called Airport Musings.

Through discussions about the story, she created a reading lists of texts in conversation with the story.

From there, the idea of a salon was born.

Join the inaugural event, on August 27.
